White gold engagement ring: From tradition to fashion

Engagement rings, especially diamond engagement rings are traditionally made of white coloured metals such as platinum or sterling silver that is why they were called white jewels.

The reason for this is that until the 1970’s the technological developments could not allow to set gemstones securely in 14K, at that time only yellow colour gold alloys.
