A jewel is an ornamental piece, made of noble metal. Henceforth, it is an item of serious goodwill and financial value. It must be cared for, so it can show its full beauty for long. Taking off while washing hands or bathing is advised, since soap, shampoo and different body lotions contain paraffines and greases that can deposit in small metal corrugations – especially under the precious stones – and make them blurry. In addition, loofahs or brushes can scratch the metallic surface.
It’s important to know when wearing jewelry that, even though noble metals do not oxidize, I.e. they do not enter into a reaction with their surroundings, but a few thermal waters can decolour them. It’s highly advised to leave our jewelry for safekeeping when visiting thermal baths or swimming pools, even more since a lot of people tend to lose their belongings in places like these.
Noble metals are soft materials, they are vulnerable. We should consider in what situations do we really want to wear our jewelry. We don’t need them during packing luggage; moreover they can be dangerous in these cases!
Regarding precious stones it’s good to know, that they are complicated little „creatures” made by nature, having microscopic inclusions in them, so it’s possible that having it accidentally collide with something might make it crack, or snap.
TAKE CARE OF THEM!
